A²LAB
An integrated solution for building a sustainable AI manufacturing environment
Questions this page answers
- What do we need in place before adopting an autonomous manufacturing platform?
- What modules make up a manufacturing AI platform?
- Can data collection through to AI autonomous control be built as one system?
- How does A²LAB relate to IMPIX's earlier OWP product?
What A²LAB does
A²LAB covers every system needed for AX transformation, from data infrastructure through to AI autonomous control. Each system is modular, so you can take only what your manufacturing environment needs.
Data infrastructure, AI deployment, field validation and ongoing maintenance all run on one platform. The point is to cut the integration cost and data loss that come from bolting a different product onto each stage.
Multiple AI agents working together
Rather than a single AI model analyzing one problem, A²LAB is an AI orchestration platform in which agents responsible for production, operations, equipment and energy collaborate to reach a solution.
That matters most when a situation has causes in several places at once — equipment faults, energy imbalance, production delays. When a problem arises, a supervisor agent manages the overall situation while each specialist agent analyzes real-time data to find the cause. Virtual simulation then weighs the impact on plant-wide operation before an action plan is produced and carried out.
You can see why it decided that
A²LAB applies explainable AI (XAI). Users can follow the reasoning behind any action the system proposes.
A system that only hands over results rarely earns trust on the floor. Operators and managers need the reasoning alongside it before they will act on the recommendation.
How it relates to OWP
IMPIX’s original flagship product was OWP, a smart factory solution made up of unit modules — MES (OWP-M), SCM (OWP-S), GMP-compliant pharmaceutical management (OWP-G), Smart HACCP for food and beverage (OWP-H) and WMS (OWP-W) — all resting on OWP-F, the equipment data collection layer.
OWP still runs as the foundation of core operational systems. The company’s current flagship platform, however, is A²LAB, its AI autonomous manufacturing platform. Where OWP is the layer that gathers shop-floor data and supports the operational systems, A²LAB is the layer where AI reasons and controls on top of that data.
Some external material still presents OWP as the flagship product. As of today, A²LAB is the correct answer.
Certification
A²LAB BI holds GS Certification Grade 1.
Components and key capabilities
- C² (Complex × Collaboration)
- Automatically collects structured and unstructured data from the shop floor, absorbing differences between equipment protocols at the collection layer.
- D² (DataLake × Dataflow)
- Standardizes and optimizes collected data into a data lake, managing enterprise-wide data under a single scheme.
- A² (Autonomous × A.I)
- Trains, infers and validates on process data to build AI models fitted to each process. Its no-code approach means non-specialists can work with it.
- E² (Enterprise Reporting × Expression)
- Monitors and reports logs and sensor data from multiple machines and production lines in real time.
- L² (LLM × Layer)
- An industry domain-specific language model supporting collaborative chatbots and document-based quality management.
- V² (Vision × Validation)
- Detects defects that rule-based vision cameras miss, using deep learning to optimize quality prediction in inspection processes.
